If this super-shiny trend looks familiar — that’s because it’s taking over large swathes of social media. It’s been dubbed “glass nails” or “glazed nails”, with the central idea being an exaggerated shine whenever a ray of light hits the nail.
So how do you get it? — Read on and save!

Celebrity Kylie Jenner was the first to spread the word. It’s a look that’s effortless and low-maintenance.
For those who haven’t yet seen or tried doing it themselves — you should know that this effect can be achieved in two ways:
-
A glossy finish created by a chrome powder, which gives a look very similar to shiny glass.
-
Or metallic nail polish with a satin/shimmer texture that’s semi-transparent.
The resulting effect is ultra-shine — giving a very clean and elegant look. It is important to remember that the effect can only be achieved with light-to-medium-dark shades of polish. The glossy, glazed nail finish catches light and gives a subtle yet noticeable upgrade.
It’s recommended to start with a base coat — the CHiC Base Coat.
The base coat protects your natural nails and helps your manicure last as long as possible. Then choose a polish shade in the light-to-medium darkness range with a shiny effect and apply two coats — waiting until the first coat is completely dry before applying the second.
Here are recommended shades for the effect:
Don’t forget to finish with an extra layer of a super-glossy top coat to maximize the shine!
